Tag// Get to know me post

GET TO KNOW ME POST

I've always enjoyed reading 'About Me' posts on blogs as i always find that being able to relate to the writer makes reading their entries more personal. That and i'm a nosy so and so and getting to know somebody is always a treat. So after (not that much) thought I decided to do one. For this particular tag there are twenty questions i'll answer so if you're still reading at question twenty, great! It means i'm not so boring after all.

(Also apologies for the overly posy photo, couldn't find anything that i thought was appropriate)

1. Are you named after anyone?
My first name no but my middle name is the same as my mother, Jane. I think i'm the only person i know who doesn't hate their middle name. For example, i know one particular person (who i won't name) who absolutely hates their middle name and it's Ralph which isn't that bad. Opinions?

2. When was the last time you cried?

Sadly, I cry all the time (see what i did there?) Okay, so not all the time but I am the sort of person who wears their heart on their sleeve and I never hide how I'm feeling. Annoying.

3. Do you have kids?

No and I don't intend to any time soon. Though saying that this summer I was lucky enough to visit Disney Land Paris and I was coohing at how adorable some of the little kids where (lots were dressed as princesses, and that is every girls dream right?)

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

I'd like to think we'd have a lot in common but it's unlikely. Reason being because I find it hard to approach someone to make the first conversation. We'd never talk to each other!

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Who me? Never. (Mwahaha)

6. Will you ever Bungee Jump?

I would love to say yes but the idea scares the crap out of me. Maybe when i'm older? (Cop out answer)

7. What's your favorite cereal?

Golden nuggets cereal is made by the gods, I'm sure of it.

8. What's the first thing you notice about people?

Usually what a person is wearing. I don't think my entries so far illuminate quite how in love
I am with fashion. After all, what you wear says a lot about who you are. Another thing is how people carry themselves. If they walk with that confident swagger i'm instantly drawn to them.

9. What is your eye colour?

My eyes are blue, just like my mama's.

10. Scary movie or happy endings?

When i'm with other people i'll act all tough and say i don't mind scary movies. In reality, i'd rather watch paint dry. Scary films scare the living daylights out of me (I know that's the point but still.) So to sum up, Happy Endings.

11. Favorite smells?

This is easy, Christina Aguilera By Night literally caresses your nose. I love the idea of having a signature scent. My friends always say whenever they smell it, they are reminded of me. Lovely!

12. Summer or winter?

This is surprisingly a hard one for me because I actually love both. Summer is great for the obvious tans, sunshine and holidays. Saying that, i love the fashion in winter, like chunky jumpers. Nothing beats a hot chocolate and film by the fire in winter. And my birthday is the week before Christmas so December time is always a great month for me.

13. Computer or television?

Probably computer because now you can watch TV online anyway. I know that's cheating but it makes sense to me.

14. What's the furthest you've ever been from home?

Furthest i've been from home was this summer when i went to Faro, Portugal. It was for a university trip and it was one of the best times i've had. That and it was hot hot hot!

15. Do you have any special talents?

I'd like to think that I can draw, the style i usually work in is MANGA. Maybe i'll include a post with some of my drawings?

16. Where were you born?

I was born in a hospital but I couldn't for the life of me tell you which one.

17. What are your hobbies?

As mentioned earlier, drawing. I also love to dance, sing and swim whenever i can. I also jog once a week but that's not really a hobby, more a chore to keep fit!

18. Do you have any pets?

I have a dog called Jack (as pictured above in our garden) and he's grumpy most of the time but adorable none the less.

 19. Favorite movie?

I love so many films i couldn't possibly choose just one. Though Tangled and Finding Nemo are some of my favourites.

20. Do you have any siblings?

I have two beautiful sisters called Emily and Sophie.

Well if you're still reading, thanks for sticking with it. That's the end of this (veryy long) post and i hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to answer any of the questions in the comments box, i always love to hear from you.

Much love,

Review// Maybelline Superstay 24 Hour Gloss

The Maybelline Superstay 24 Hour lip gloss (quite a mouthful) seem to have been a non-stop topic on blogs. I first heard about them from a friend, we were in Portugal and she was wearing a bright red lip that stayed on all day despite the heat.  Since seeing that staying power, these have been a non-mover in my wish list. It was my lovely boyfriend that brought it for me in the end (what a good boyfriend, cheeseee) hoping it wouldn't come off on him as much as some of my others have.

 1. Ravishing Rouge 2. Perpetual Peony 3. Til Mauve Do Us Part 4. Never Ending Nude 5. Consistently Truffle (image taken from PamperedandPolished.co.nz)

The first thing i noticed was the packaging. Unlike most lipglosses on the highstreet, this product came boxed which, though you probably wouldn't keep it in the box in your makeup bag, was a nice touch. It also means no cretins in store can fiddle with them (which has happened more often than you'd want.)

There are a huge range of colours available which is great for creating loads of lasting makeup looks, not so good for your bank balance as they sell for £8.99 each. A little costly as far as high street lip glosses are concerned (that and i'm on a student budget i.e nothing.) My excuse was that in the long run, they'll cost less as cheaper ones you'd re-apply more, use up faster etc. Really you can use whatever excuse works for you.
The colour I decided upon was the Ravishing Rouge (after much oohing and aahing over the different colours i assure you) as I am a sucker for a good bright red lip. The lipgloss comes with two sections, the intensive colour which is applied first and the balm to seal. I've used this product for about a week and I can honestly say I love it. It's a rich all over coverage, and stays put all day. In fact, I wore it yesterday and despite taking my makeup off last night, there are still remnants of it on my lips. My one criticism of this product is that it feels a little drying. That being said, you can re-apply the balm whenever your lips feel dry. Maybelline also sell a small 'Balm only' product which is handbag friendly. I'm yet to use it for a night out but when i do, I trust that i won't even need to keep it in my clutch as i'm that confident it will not budge.

Overall, very happy and even students like myself cannot grumble at the cost as it's worth every penny. Hope you enjoyed reading!

Much Love,

Tag// Why do you wear makeup?

Hello all! After being an avid follower of blogs for years i thought i would contribute to the online world. If you're as interested as i am by makeup, clothes and all things girly you might find this blog is for you. I'll do reviews, tags and OOTD posts. So to kick off, for my first ever post on Lashes & Lipstick i thought i would follow the crowd and do a Tag "Why do you wear makeup?"  that i've seen on many blogs. It seemed like a good place to start.

If like me you're a newbie to blogs, a quick introduction to "Tags" may be needed as i had no idea what they were until it was explained to me. A tag is essentially an interview conducted by the writer and is a great way for readers to get to know the blogger. Feel free to join in and answer the questions in the comment sections (if i've discovered how to put it there that is) and without further adieu'...

1. When did you begin loving makeup? Anybody who knows me now may find it hard to believe that I wasn't properly into makeup until i was 17. I began wearing makeup in year nine of school and I must say, the fashion then was pale powdery foundation face and dark eye makeup. I am ashamed to say that this look stayed with me right up until the end of school until (thankfully) i saw sense. It was college when i began my full blown love affair with my makeup and fancied a change.

2. How do you feel without makeup? Believe it or not i don't feel too strongly about my bare faced self. I think it's because i like to remind myself what i really look like and who i am (Getting a bit deep here.) Although that being said, if i go out the house I'd want my makeup on because it's such a small world. You can guarantee when makeup goes perfectly, ghost town and when you haven't go a scrap on it's a reunion.

3. What do you like about makeup? The thing i love most about makeup is how it can bring out different sides to yourself. Smokey eyes can make you feel sexy while pretty pastels can make you feel girly and cute. Pretty powerful stuff, eh? I also love how you can enhance your features, and who could argue with that!

4. Three 'Holy Grail' Items? This is a hard one (there's so many items that complete my makeup box!)

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid; This foundation is one i have used for years and I am in love with. The colour is even and glossy and provides a really good coverage (I will do a review at some point) and makes me feel like i have flawless skin (providing you set it with a good powder)

Miss Sporty fabulous lash curling mascara; Most girls would agree that if you could only use one makeup product, it would be mascara. There's a reason this blog is called lipstick and lashes, i think long eyelashes are one of the most feminine features a woman can possess. Therefore, a good mascara is a must. This one if one of the best i've used however, i'm still on the search for that 'perfect' mascara.

Rimmel Vinyl Glosses in Snog: I am such a fan of these lipglosses and it was hard to choose just one. This colour is a deep plum which i think you can create both sexy night time looks and daytime looks with. However, i absolutely adore the shade 'Pin up' as it's a shocking pink and really stands out.
Well that's the end of my first ever (pretty long) entry! I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as i did writing it and comments are always appreciated.

Much love,
